주한독일문화원, 스페이스 원, 남산예술센터이 참여하는 2017서울도시건축비엔날레 '남산클러스터'의 일환으로 스페이스 원은 프로젝트 "삼방 회로"를 진행한다.

“삼방 회로”는 오늘날 서울에서 젠트리피케이션 또는 ‘재생’이 벌어지고 있는 지역에 존재하는 동시대 공동체들을 예술적 접근으로 연구하고자 시작되었다. 프로젝트는 한국 서울, 독일 함부르크, 인도 부바네스와르에 있는 다섯 개의 공동체의 사람들에 대한 인터뷰로 시작한다. 공동체들을 이루는 사람들을 ‘주체화’하고 그들의 내러티브를 확장하기 위해 인터뷰는 퍼포먼스의 형식으로 이루어진다. 이 프로젝트는 배경이 된 세 도시들의 끊임없이 이동하고 변화하는 각기 다른 인구, 속도, 규모 안에서의 유사점들을 발견하고자 한다. 각 도시들은 서로의 과거, 현재, 미래를 상기시킨다. 이를 반영해 인터뷰는 도시의 변화와 과도기에서 발생하는 시간적, 공간적 그리고 감정적 양상들을 과거, 현재, 미래의 시점으로 살펴보는 아홉 개의 질문들로 이루어진다.

이를 기반으로, “삼방 회로”는 퍼포먼스 인터뷰와 지역 기반의 작업을 보여주는 일련의 전시들, 행위 예술가들의 실시간 퍼포먼스와 건축가 그룹의 설치, 그리고 세 도시의 프로젝트 참여자들과 함께하는 패널 토크의 세 개의 프로그램으로 확장된다. 

Goethe-Institut Korea, Space One, and Namsan Arts Center participate 2017 Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism as 'Namsan Cluster'. As a part of Namsan Cluster, Space One presents a project "a three-way dialogue".

'a three-way dialogue' starts with an artistic approach to researching contemporary communities within the concurrent realm of gentrification or 'regeneration' in Seoul. In an attempt to 'subject-ify' and multiply the narratives of the people within, the project begins with a series of performance interviews in five communities in Seoul, Hamburg and Bhubaneswar. Selecting the three cities is an attempt to find parallels in their different scale, speed and population constantly moving and changing. Each city echoes each other's past, present and future. Hence the interviews are based on nine questions of the past, present and future of the timely, spatial and emotional aspects of transition.

With this basis, 'a three-way dialogue' expands into a three-part project: including a series of exhibitions presenting the performance interviews and community based visual artworks; a live performance of the performance artists and an installation of an architect collective; and finally a talk with all participants of the project from three cities.

김세진과 여인영이 참여하는 전시,‘현존 안에 존재성’은 해방촌 지역 공동체를 조사한다.  급격한 변화와 함께 현재 해방촌의 시간성, 공간성 및 정서는 마치 과거 한국의 ‘마을’들에서와 같이 움직이고 있다. 옛 것과 새로운 것이 빈 공간들로 이루어진 거대한 거품 안에 끊임없이터지며 섞여 들어가 끓어 오른다. 각 작가들은 인공적인 대화들을 만들어내고, 해방촌 사람들의 시각화를 통해 집과 꿈의 의미를 재정의하며 이러한 과도기의 괴상한 그림을 다양한 방식으로 그리고자 시도한다. 미시적이고 거시적인 차원에서, 참여 작가들은 사람들과 공간을 연결하기도 하고 단절시키기도 하는 도시성의 다층적인 양상, 또한 도시 브랜드를 쇄신하는 과정 속에 예술과 공동체의 위상이 높아짐에도 불구하고 시공간적으로 사람은 비존재한다는 역설에 대해 다룬다.

'present in presence' by Sejin Kim and InYoung Yeo investigates the local community of Haebangchon (HBC) Seoul. The present time, space and emotions of HBC move like that of the past 'Maeul' (villages) in Korea, with the presence of ongoing abrupt transformations. The old and new mix and boil into one giant bubble complex of hollow spaces constantly popping. Each artist attempt to paint this eerie picture of transition in different ways, creating forced dialogues, redefining the meaning of home and dreams through visualization of the people in HBC. On a micro and macro level, they address the multiple layers of urbanism connecting and disconnecting people and space; and the irony of the people's timely and spatial non-presence in the heightened presence of art and community in rebranding cities.

순환하는 반복

틸 월퍼/N55와 3명의 퍼포먼스 작가, 수짓 쿠마르 말릭, 유재인, 그레타 그라데라트 그리고 바이크 파티 서울이 함께 서울 내 공공 공간 및 사유지에서 일시적으로 소규모 공동체를 형성한다.

이 여정은 50년 역사를 지닌 해방촌 내 위치한 한 시장의 공공 공간에서 출발하여 공공도로를 지나 주한독일문화원의 사유지인 주차장을 거쳐 서울의 동대문디자인플라자로 향하는 공공의 길을 지난다. 그리고 동대문디자인플라자에서 다시 여정의 출발지인 해방촌의 시장과 스페이스 원으로 돌아온다.

틸 월퍼/N55의 공기 주입식 임시 구조물은 가변적이고 열린 공간을 만들어 낸다. 세 명의 퍼포먼스 작가들은 작가 여인영과 협업하여 그들의 커뮤니티에서 진행한 인터뷰들을 기반으로 관객과 소통하며 상호작용하는 퍼포먼스를 진행한다. 바이크 파티 서울은 이동의 시점을 제공하고 지리적 순환의 지도를 만든다. 이 각각의 이야기들은 즉각적으로, 그리고 끊임없이 움직이고 변화하면서 한시적 소규모 공동체들을 형성한다.

퍼포먼스 1 : 한때 사람들로 붐비며 활발했던 시장의 공공 공간에 관한 대화를 시작한다.
퍼포먼스 2 : 언젠가 사유물이 될 길들을 걸으며 대화를 시작한다.
퍼포먼스 3 : 균열된 단어들을 연결하는 대화를 시작한다.

Architecture collective, N55/Till Wolfer; three performance artists, SujitKumar Mallik (India), Jane Yoo (Korea) and Greta Granderath (Germany) and a local bicycle community, Bike Party Seoul; together create temporary micro-communities in private and public spaces in Seoul.

Creating a geographical loop, the journey starts in a public space in a fifty year old market space in 'Haebangchon' to the public streets to a private parking lot of Goethe Institute and back to the public streets of Seoul to reach Dongdaemun Design Plaza returning back to the starting point, the market space and Space One.

 N55/Till Wolfer's temporary inflatable structure creates an adaptable and open space. Three performance artists base their interactive and dialogical performances with the viewers on the interviews conducted in each of their communities in collaboration with InYoung Yeo. Bike Party Seoul joins to create a moving viewpoint and map the geographical loop. Together in disconnected dialogues, they create temporary micro-communities instantaneously and constantly moving and changing.

Performance I: I start a dialogue of a market place that once was a very busy central public place of gathering.
Performance II: I start a dialogue walking on the streets that will one day become a private commodity.
Performance III: I start a dialogue connecting fractured words.

 “삼방 회로” 프로젝트의 일환인 패널 토크는 ‘유동하는 커뮤니티와 연대’라는 주제 하에 현대 사회의 구조와 그에 대한 비판적 시각을 바탕으로 예술과 건축이 창조적인 과정에서 어떻게 협상을 하고, 공간적, 시간적, 감정적으로 공동체가 이동함에 따라 어떻게 연대를 찾는가에 대해 이야기한다. 퍼포먼스 인터뷰를 진행했던 서울, 함부르크, 부바네스와르 각 지역 공동체의 작가, 건축가, 디자이너, 도시 계획가, 영화 감독 등 각기 다른 분야의 전문가들이 함께 모여 다양한 접근 방식과 서사를 통해 그들의 이야기를 공유한다.

As a part of the project 'a three-way dialogue' the panel talk, 'Communities and Solidarity in Flux' constitutes an introduction and further critical look at contemporary communities and its structures; how art and architecture negotiate in its creative process and finally in its search for solidarity as communities continue to move spatially, timely and emotionally. Artists, architects, designers, urban planners and film-makers from three communities in Seoul, Hamburg and Bhubaneswar where the series of performance interviews took place, come together to share their multiple approaches and narratives.

여인영 InYoung Yeo

여인영은 1979년 한국 출생의 작가, 독립 큐레이터이자 디렉터이다. 영국, 미국, 한국에서 영문학, 일러스트레이션, 미술을 수학한 후, 2014년 서울에서 작가 운영 공간 스페이스 원을 창립했다. 이후 한국, 일본, 대만, 독일, 영국, 미국 등 다양한 국가의 미술 공간 및 신진 작가들과 함께 작업하고 실험하며 여러 협력 전시들을 기획했다. 2017서울도시건축비엔날레와 함께 ‘삼방 회로’라는 제목으로 세 도시에서의 퍼포먼스 인터뷰와 전시, 퍼포먼스, 패널 토크로 구성된 기획 프로젝트를 일 년 간 진행하고 있다. www.inyoungyeo.com

InYoung Yeo, born in 1979, Seoul Korea is an independent artist, curator and director. With a background in English Literature, Illustration and Fine Art in countries including UK, US and Korea, she started an artist-run space -Space One- in Seoul 2014. Since then, she has put together various collaborative exhibitions, working and experimenting with emerging artists and art spaces from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Germany, UK, US, Canada among others. 한광야 GwangYa Han

한광야는 동국대학교 건축한 전공 교수로 연세대학교에서 건축을 공부하고, 하버드대학교에서 도시설계 석사(MAUD), 펜실베니아대학교에서 도시계획학 박사(Ph.D.) 학위를 받았다.  물리적인 도시설계와 도시계획 분야의 학자이며 실무자로서 보스턴 세실앤리즈비(Cecil and Rizvi) 설계사무소와 필라델피아 월리스로버츠앤토드(Wallace Roberts and Todd) 설계사무소에서 근무하며 도시중심부의 블록설계부터 지역의 환경계획까지 일련의 프로젝트들에 참여했다. 동국대 캠퍼스-커뮤니티 계획, 서강대 남양주 캠퍼스 구상, 한반도의 물리적 국토계획 등을 수립했고, 서울 잠실 도시재생 국제현상설계(2015)에서 당선하였다.  역저서로 ‘미국 인터넷 산업의 지도(한울, 2003)’, ‘Global Universities and Urban Development (New York M.E. Sharpe Publishing, 2008)’, ‘지속가능한 도시만들기(기문당, 2013)’, ‘도시설계(한울, 2015)’, ‘대학과 도시(한울 2017)’ 등을 출판했다.  현재 서울시 해방촌 도시재생의 총괄계획가로 활동하고 있으며, 세계의 ‘대학과 도시: 미래의 생산체계’, ‘한국 중소 도시의 형성과 진화’, ‘동남아시아 도시의 진화’ 등의 연구들을 진행하고 있다.

GwangYa Han is Professor of Urban Design at Dongguk University, Seoul Korea.  Han teaches and practices large-scaled architecture and city design in Korea and abroad.  He received BA(Yonsei University), MAUD (Harvard University), and Ph.D. (University of Pennsylvania).  Han practiced urban design with Wallace Roberts and Todd (Philadelphia)  and Cecil & Rizvi (Boston).  Han wrote and co-wrote various books and articles (Global Universities and Urban Development, M.E. Sharpe, 2008, Development of Korean Cities, SangSang Publisher, 2013, University and the City, Hanul, 2017) and has conducteda series of researches funded by KRF to examine the formation and development of knowledge and technology community in cities in Europe, North America and South East Asia.  Appointed as Master Planner for HaeBangChon Community Regeneration Project by Seoul Metropolitan Government, Han has worked with the community since its inception in 2015.

김세진 Sejin Kim

서강대학교 영상대학원 영상미디어과에서 영화를 전공하고 영국의 슬레이드 미술대학(UCL)에서 미디어아트를 전공했다. 자신의 작업에서 영상의 다양한 기법을 이용해 여러 시스템들이 동시다발적으로 공존하는 복잡한 현대사회에서 필연적으로 발생되는 인간의 고립과 고독, 불안과 같은 삶의 결핍과 같은 간극에 주목하고 있다. sejinkimstudio.com

Sejin Kim received MFA in Fine Art from Slade School of Fine Art in London and MA in Film/TV from Sogang University in Seoul. She works with a variety of media apparatuses, including documentary realism and cinematic language to explore various and perplexing relationships between individuals and contemporary society systems. 유재인 Jane Yoo

1985년 서울에서 태어나 지금까지 서울에서 살고 있다. 일상 생활을 하루하루 이어나가면서 생기는 자연스러운 관심사, 고민에서 출발한 주제를 개인과 사회의 관계에 대한 문제 의식으로 발전시켜 작품 활동을 하고있다. 드로잉, 설치, 퍼포먼스 등 다양한 매체를 활용하며, 다른 작가들과 협업을 통한 퍼포먼스를 선보였다. 대표작으로 <개인주의 야채가게>(서교예술실험센터,2013), 1000만원 TV(통의동보안여관,2015)가 있다.

Jane Yoo lives and works in Seoul where she was born in 1985. Her work questions the relation between individuals and the society based on everyday lives. She works with various media such as drawings, installations, and performances as well as collaborations with other artists. Her major works are <Individualistic vegetable store>(Seoul Art Space Seogyo, 2013) and<10 million won TV>(Artspace boan1942, 2015).

마제나 칠레브스키 Marzena Chilewski

마제나 칠레브스키는 미술 작가, 음악가, 영화제작자, 작가들과의 협업을 통해 프로젝트를 진행하며 미학, 정치, 문화 사이의 관계를 주요 주제로 연구, 강의, 기획 등 다양한 활동을 펼치고 있다. 특히, 칠레브스키는 함부르크의 대안적 도시 자치 행정 공간 ‘겡피에르텔협회 Gängeviertel e.V’ 프로젝트의 큐레이터이자 레지던시 프로젝트의 매니저로서 도시 공간과 정치 미학에 대한 토론, 워크숍 및 출판물 기획과 제작을 해 오고 있다.

Marzena Chilewski works as a researcher, lecturer, initiator, and organiser. A main topic of her work is the tension between aesthetics, politics, and culture. Most of her practice is realized in collaboration with other artists, musicians, filmmakers, and writers. Marzena Chilewski is actively involved in the Gängeviertel e.V. project – an alternative urban self-administreted space in Hamburg. Within the Gängeviertel she works as a curator and manager of the residency project, and as an organiser of discussions, workshops and publications on Urban Space, and Political Aesthetics.

틸 월퍼/N55 Till Wolfer/N55

틸 월퍼는 건축가이자 ‘실제의 유토피아들konkrete Utopen’의 제작자이다. 현재 독일 함부르크 갱피에르텔Gängeviertel에서 N55와 XYZ CARGO 스튜디오를 운영하고 있으며, N55의 핵심 공동 작업자이자 XYZ CARGO의 공동 설립자이다.

N55는 일상의 예술과 관련된 작업을 한다. N55는 함께 일하고, 생활 공간과 경제를 공유하며 자신들만의 생산 방식을 가지고자 하는 사람들을 위한 플랫폼이다. N55에게 예술은 소통의 한 방식이자 사람들로 하여금 일상 생활의 틀을 다시 생각하고, 재창조하도록 격려하는 방법이다. N55의 체계는 사람들이 자신의 생활 환경을 스스로 재창조할 수 있도록 하고, 권력의 집중을 최소화하는 삶의 방식을 확립할 수 있도록 하고자 목표한다. www.xyzcargo.com, www.n55.dk

Till Wolfer is an architect & producer of ‘’konkrete Utopien’ (‘actual utopias’). He is a core-collaborator of N55 and co-founder of XYZ CARGO. He currently runs the N55 and XYZ CARGO studios in Hamburg’s Gängeviertel (Germany). 

N55 works with art in everyday life. N55 is a platform for persons who want to work together, share places to live, economy, and own means of production. For N55 art is a way of communication. A way to create significant situations, which inspire persons to re-think & re-make their everyday life routines. 그레타 그라데라트  Greta Granderath

그레타 그라데라트는 함부르크에서 연극 제작자, 희곡 작가 및 문창가로 활동하고 있다. 2010년부터 그란데라트는 함부르크의 갱피에르텔Gängeviertel 점유 공간에 위치한  자기 조직적 리허설 스튜디오인 “갱피에르텔 플랫폼Probebühne im Gängeviertel”에 적극적으로 참여하고 있다. 최근 줄리아나 올리베이라와 함께 주피 바Jupi Bar(갱피에르텔, 함부르크, 2017. 5)에서 학제 간 예술 프로젝트 “팔레트PALETTE”를 기획했다. 2015년에는 한나 게오르기Hannah Georgi와 함께 일대일 댄스 퍼포먼스 “프라이빗 댄서PRIVATE DANCER”(K3, 함부르크, 캄프나겔국제여름축제)를 공동 기획했다. 문학 잡지와 선집에 다수의 시와 산문을 발표하였으며, 쥬스티니악Justiniac(프랑스, 2016)에서 함부르크시로부터 그리고 NRW 영화 및 미디어 재단(2015)에서 장학금을 받은 바 있다. 포스드엔터테인먼트Forced Entertainment, 오머 크리거Omer Krieger, 레지나 로시Regina Rossi 등과 협력 작업을 함께 진행했다. 베를린 자유 대학에서 연극학, 비교 문학 학사(2009), 함부르크 대학에서 행위예술 연구 석사(2011) 학위를 받았다.

Greta Granderath is a theatre maker, dramaturge and writer based in Hamburg. Since 2010 she is actively involved in the “Probebühne im Gängeviertel“, a self-organized rehearsal studio located in the former squatted Gängeviertel (a quarter in Hamburg). Recently she curated with Juliana Oliveira the interdisciplinary art project “PALETTE“ at the Jupi Bar (May 2017, Gängeviertel Hamburg). In 2015 Greta co-directed with Hannah Georgi the one-to-one dance performance "PRIVATE DANCER" (K3 | Tanzplan Hamburg/International Summerfestival Kampnagel). Her poems and prose were published in literary magazines and anthologies and she received a scholarship of the City of Hamburg in Justiniac/France (2016) and of the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW (2015). Greta collaborated with Forced Entertainment, Omer Krieger and Regina Rossi amongst others. She holds a BA in Theatre Studies and Comparative Literature (Freie Universität Berlin, 2009) and an MA in Performance Studies (University of Hamburg, 2011).

산딥 호타 Sandeep Hota

산딥 호타는 인도 부바네스와르의 Utsha 현대미술재단의 프로젝트 매니저다. 캐나다 퀸즈 대학에서  MBA를 취득한 후, 미국, 영국, 캐나다, 아랍에미레이트 등지에서 15년 간 경력을 쌓았다. 2015년 인도로 귀국한 후 자신의 프로젝트 관리 경험을 활용, Utsha현대미술재단의 많은 프로젝트들을 기획하고, 개발, 실현시키고 있다. 호타는 재단 최초 인턴십 프로그램을 도입했으며, 재단의 비전과 전략 목표를 수정하고, 부바네스와르를 기반으로 하는, 부바네스와르 아트 컬렉티브라는 문화예술 싱크탱크를 창립했다. 그가 도시에서의 공공 미술의 역할에 대해 논한 ‘스마트 시티에서의 예술’이란 제목의 논문은 곧 부바네스와르에서 열릴 세미나의 기반이 되었다.

Sandeep Hota is a Project Manager at Utsha Foundation for Contemporary Art , Bhubaneswar , India . With a Masters in Business Administration from Queen's University , Canada , he spent 15 years working in many countries including the US , UK , Canada, UAE , Indonesia as a management consultant. After moving back home to India in 2015 , he has devoted his time and project management experience in conceptualising , developing and implementing different projects for Utsha.  He also conceptualised the foundation's first internship programme , revised its vision and strategic objectives and established a city based think tank on art and culture called the Bhubaneswar Art Collective. He has also authored a discussion paper on the role of public art in the city called 'Art in the Smart City' which is the basis ofan upcoming seminar on the subject in the city.

수파르나 수랍히타 다스 Suparna Surabhita Das

수파르나 수랍히타 다스는 도시설계자로 루르키공과대학에서 도시 및 농어촌 설계학 석사를 받았다. 오디샤 연안통합관리 프로젝트, 국립수도권도시계획국의 우타르 프라데시 지역 계획 등 다양한 지역 프로젝트에서 활동한 후 현재 부바네스와르 개발 기구에서 도시 계획 설계보를 맡고 있다. 향토 예술, 문화유산, 문화 보존에 대한 관심을 바탕으로 지난 몇 년 간 사회 및 기존 인프라와 관련 부바네스와르의 구도심 지역의 변화에 대해 광대한 연구를 진행해 왔다. 또한 부바네스와르 개발 기구의 공공 공간 및 환경 관리 부서를 이끌며, 도시의 문화유산 관련 계획들에서 활발한 활동을 펼쳐오고 있다.

Suparna Surabhita Das is an Urban Planner graduated from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, India with a Masters in Urban and Rural Planning. Before working as an Assistant Town Planner at Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), Bhubaneswar, she was associated with several regional planning projects like Integrated Coastal Zone Management Project, Odisha; Uttar Pradesh Sub-regional Plan for National Capital Region Planning Board etc.  With a penchant for conservation of native art, heritage and culture, she had researched extensively on the transformations in the old city parts of Bhubaneswar over the years in terms of built and social infrastructure. The Environment and Public Space Management Branch of BDA is headed by her and she is involved in several heritage initiatives in the city.

리피카 싱 다라이 Lipika Singh Darai

리피카 싱 다라이는 인도 오디샤 주 부바네스와르에서 활동하는 영화제작자이다. 영화 사운드와 편집을 전공으로, 인도 영화&텔레비전 인스티튜트를 졸업했다. 리피카 싱 다라이의 다큐멘터리, “마녀에 관한 몇 가지 이야기들Some Stories Around Witches”은 마녀 사냥 사건들을 통해 인도주의적 위기를 그리고 있으며, 단편 “폭포The Waterfall”는 오디샤 주 산림의  다양한 생태계의 파괴를 일으키는 채광 산업으로 인해 죽어가는 폭포를 보호하기 위한 사람들의 투쟁을 담았다. 그녀의 작품들은 뛰어난 개인적 내러티브 양식이 특징적이다. 네 개의 인도영화상을 수상하였으며, 국내외 여러 영화제에서 작품이 상영된 바 있다. 현재 인도 영화부의 제작으로 오디샤 주의 인형극 공동체에 대한 장편 다큐멘터리를 만들고 있다.

Lipika Singh Darai is a filmmaker based in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.  An aluminous of the premier film school, the Film & Television Institute of India, she specialized in film sound recording and is also an avid film editor. While her feature documentary “Some Stories Around Witches” depicts the humanitarian crisis around witch-hunting cases , her short fiction “The Waterfall” focuses on people’s struggle, to protect a dying waterfall from rapid mining activities which has brought in ecological devastation in one of the highly bio diverse forests in Odisha. She has won four National Film Awards, India in various capacities. Her films are characterized by a strong personal narrative style. Her work has been shown in various international and national film festivals. She is currently making a feature length documentary on the puppeteer communities of Odisha, produced by Films Division, India.

수짓 쿠마르 말릭 Sujit Kumar Mallik

수짓 쿠마르 말릭은 델리와 부바네스와르에서 거주하며 토지의 다양한 지평에 대해 작업하고 있다. 그는 자신의 작업을 공공과 공간에 영향을 주고 받는 하나의 소통 방식으로써 접근한다. 토양 구성에서부터 복잡한 도시 생활의 사회정치적 구조까지 다루는 그의 작업은 대지와의 끊임없는 대화라 할 수 있다. 그는 작품을 통해 폐기물, 시민정신, 감염, 사회 구조, 생태학, 식생활, 소비, 공동생활과 같은 주제를 다루고 있다. 

Sujit Kumar Mallik is an artist lives in delhi/bhubaneswar and works in multiple horizons of the soil , his approach to art as a communicable practice that both infects and is shaped by the publics and spaces he work with. His practice is an ongoing dialogue with the earth – from its soil composition, to the complex social and political structures of urban life. He has and is exploring such themes from waste and citizenship to infection, social structures and ecology, with Food, consumption and co-inhabitance being common threads.
